In addition to conferring honors to graduating seniors who successfully research and write an honors thesis, the History Department is pleased to offer a number of prizes annually to undergraduates for exemplary work in the discipline of history.

Best thesis in Latin American history

The Samuel C. Lamport Prize in International Understanding

Theses or papers on international understanding, with emphasis on cooperation and tolerance

The Marjorie Harris Weiss Memorial Premium in History

Outstanding undergraduate student concentrating in History

The Gaspee Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Award

Women student who presents the best paper written as a class assignment in an American history course

Pell Medal Award

Presented to one student for excellence in United States history

The David Herlihy Prize

Best student in Medieval or Renaissance, or Ancient history
