Biography
Montagu James works on 20th century cultural and intellectual history, focusing on the relationship between politics, religion, and the arts in Central and Eastern Europe. He holds a B.A. in History from Princeton University and an MPhil in Modern European History from the University of Cambridge. His research projects include the role of classical music in the cultural Cold War and East–West relations, Catholic politics in interwar Poland and Italy, and the development of modern human rights discourse. He has published in the Palgrave Handbook of Non-State Actors in East-West Relations and the Journal of Italian Cinema & Media Studies.
