"I’m interested in how British commercial expansion into the Atlantic during the seventeenth and early eighteenth century led to the growth of domestic industries and colonial agriculture, especially those that relate to textile production, thereby creating necessary and favorable conditions for the economic takeoff of the later eighteenth century that ushered in modernity. I’m also intrigued by the history of state administration and policy that promoted or restrained such developments.​"
