Student Spotlight: Roni Wine '24

In this spotlight, Roni Wine '24 delves into his work with Professor of Modern Latin American History James Green, which has spanned over the course of Wine's four years as an undergraduate at Brown.

"My name is Roni Wine and I'm an IAPA and ECON concentrator from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I'm a senior who will be graduating next month, but I've worked with Professor James Green and the Department of History for four years now — since the spring of my first year at Brown.

I started with the Opening the Archives project and later did a lot of work related to international policy and solidarity between the U.S. and Brazil. Lately, I've had the honor of helping Professor Green organize his retirement conference, entitled 'Brazil: Histories and Legacies.' The three-day event was a great celebration of Professor Green's academic, political, and democratic work and united a large number of his friends, colleagues, former students and mentees. It was an honor to be one of these students and mentees, and I look forward to continuing to work with him outside of Brown."
