In November 2022, History and Africana Studies Professor Françoise Hamlin was named an Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lecturer.
Using the example of a Black woman who organized and provided leadership during the mass civil rights movement in Clarksdale, Mississippi from the mid-fifties to the mid-seventies, Professor Hamlin's featured lecture, "Stubborn Archives: Beyond the Usual Suspects" considers how historians have responded to the archives. Hamlin's other lectures include "History Matters: Acknowledging Black Trauma" and "Complicating Local Black Leadership: Gender, Class, and Local Movements."
Congratulations, Professor Hamlin!
