        Biography
Evelyn González holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History & Literature from Harvard College. Her research centers on explorations of everyday life in twentieth century communist Cuba. In particular, Evelyn seeks to understand how anti-/non-communist individuals contested the communist government's imperatives in their daily lives in an effort to exceed Cold War scarcity and state oppression. Originally from Hialeah, Florida, Evelyn makes extensive use of oral history methodologies in her research and believes that thoughtful engagement with Miami's Cuban exile community is necessary to creating meaningful historical work about the island.
